Extra! Extra! Read all about it ! I learned something from Library Research and I want to shout it :)

Assignments that were assigned in and out of class weren't too bad in my opinion. It was almost like a review on how things worked online but, with a twist of extra information on top. An example would be an assignment that I did which had to deal with working with MedlinePlus and the other websites given in the class. The most hardest part about finding information and researching about a topic from these sites was just getting the results that pertained to what I needed. I had to keep narrowing down my search and making sure that the information that I received was reliable and accurate. The other part that was hard was that while searching for my topic, other topics would appear that had nothing to do with it so, it made my researching take longer then it should have. For the most part though, everything else was easy besides that fact in finding information.
So, during these past five weeks that I've had in this program, Library Research was actually one of my favorite classes to go to. It taught me things I already knew but, it also went over things that I barely understood. This gave me an even better understanding of how to utilize my time on the internet by not wasting it on researching poorly, how not to plagiarize, and how to tell if a website is a phony or not. What would've been more helpful is if we were able to learn how to track someones IP address or learn how to hack a website. But, I guess that would take longer then five weeks to learn it and it wouldn’t pertain to this curriculum. Still, I think it would be fun. Anyways, I hope that when I get back to school and later on in life, these helpful tools and lessons that I’ve learned in the class will be helpful to me to make me become an internet friendly user =)

" Since everything is on the internet, I don't need books. . . . right ? "

I feel at odds thinking this but I feel that because of the Internet, we don't really need books anymore. Technology has advanced so much since the year that it was invented and because of its advancements, society's normal life is all on the Internet. Nothing that we do now a day is in person. Examples include job searching, sharing basic information, and even reading books. I feel that this makes things so much easier than in person because its fast and easy access information that we can read quickly and are able to gain the information that we need. But, when it comes to books, you may need to read or skim a whole section just to find the information that pertains to what you’re looking for. This also saves a ton of trees from being cut down to produce books and other reading materials which would mean we would have cleaner air and a better forest that animals could inhabit.
On the other hand, not everyone has the availability to have technology within the palm of their hands and not everyone like the use of technology to read and find information. Also, information within websites can be altered and mistaken for other materials so information online can’t always be trusted like books can because they are never altered unless you are talking about the revision state. In general, the use of books still pertain to today’s society but I feel the use of them have been decreasing as everything is now more available online.
